A divan bed base: what is it?

One kind of upholstered base with built-in storage spaces is a divan bed. Usually featuring drawers concealed in the base, they consist of a robust hardwood frame encircled by cloth. Your mattress is supported by the frame, which is available in a range of colours, styles, storage choices, and foot options.

They are a great option in terms of both design and functionality. To assist you in finding the ideal bed for you, this guide will help clarify the distinctions between our assortment of divan bed bases.

What advantages do divan bed bases offer?

With good reason, divan bed bases are among the most widely used options for bed frames. They offer a number of important advantages that will enable you to create the bedroom of your dreams.

1. The platform top is incredibly durable.
2. Long-lasting reinforced frame construction
3. Making the most of your space with optional concealed storage
4. Divan bed bases are available in a vast array of hues, designs, and materials.
5. Simple to put together

A superking divan bed foundation is a fantastic option if you need a lot of back support, wish to maximise the use of a guest room, or want a large bed for your main bedroom. You can have a tonne of functionality without sacrificing style. Customising your divan bed base with headboards and even selecting your preferred kind of foot is simple.

Comfort has advantages as well, especially if you wish to give your mattress a little more firmness.

Types of Divan bed bases

Divan bed bases, which are distinguished from other bed frames by having a platform top instead of slats, are well-known for being sturdy and safe. Our divan bed bases are made of sturdy wood and are available in two primary varieties: platform and pocket sprung.

Platform top bases

Platform top bases, sometimes referred to as solid top bases, feature a solid panel top that provides your mattress with a stable foundation and substantial support.

Bases with pocket springs

These frames are excellent for adding an additional degree of comfort and support since they have a layer of pocket springs integrated into the base. Because the springs are reactive, they relieve some of the strain on your mattress, extending its life. Check out our 1000-spring Flaxby Sprung Divan Bed Base, available in a variety of colours.

Divan bed base storage types

Storage is one of a divan bed base's greatest advantages. Drawers in the base of many divan types are put away neatly when not in use. You can choose between 2, or 4 drawers on our divan bed bases, depending on what kind of bed with drawers best meet your storage requirements.

Foot types for divan bed bases

The feet you select for your divan bed base are a minor element, but they are crucial. Every foot type has advantages and disadvantages of its own, in addition to aesthetic factors. Let's examine the many possibilities:

Castors

To make moving a divan bed base easier, you can attach castors - plastic or metal wheels - to the bottom of it. When you need to move your bed for decorating or clean underneath it, this is ideal. Castor cups are necessary to prevent the bed from sliding around on either smooth or rough flooring.

Glides

Sturdy flat feet called glides are fastened to the underside of your divan bed foundation. Although they help you move your divan bed base around the room, they are not as portable as castors. Glides guarantee that your divan bed base will remain in place, making them ideal for both smooth and carpeted surfaces.

Legs

Legs If you like a higher bed, legs will maintain your bed in place and give it height, which will make getting in and out more pleasant. If you decide to use drawers, be sure to use tall legs so you can still maximise your storage space.

Are divan bed bases simple to assemble?

Divan bed bases are indeed simple to put together. They will come in two sections (small double, double, king, or super king) or one component (single or tiny single). All you have to do is attach your chosen foot to your base and use the connection bar to join the bases. Look through our assembly choices to discover how we may help if you need some assistance.

How can I attach a headboard to the base of my divan bed?

Because divan bases have pre-drilled holes underneath the fabric where you screw in the connecting bolts, attaching a headboard is incredibly easy. You can purchase matching headboards for all of our divan bed bases, which are designed to fit effortlessly.

Headboard bolts for strutted headboards should be screwed into the holes until they are securely fastened, leaving a small space. Make sure the headboard is level and tightened after carefully lowering it over and adjusting it to your desired height.

With the bottom of the headboard flat with the floor, position a full-height headboard against the head end of the divan bed base and align it with the pre-drilled holes in the divan bed base. Tighten and secure the headboard bolts by screwing them into the holes in a clockwise direction.
